These five AI extensions also display the time of the video for each summarized section so you can watch only the relevant part you want.
1. Glarity
Glarity is an open-source Chrome extension that uses ChatGPT to summarize search results and YouTube videos. The extension operates automatically and starts generating a summary as soon as the video begins, displaying it on the right side of the video. If you do not want summaries for every YouTube video, there is an option to switch to manual mode where summaries will be produced only when you click the button.
One of the best things about Glarity is that you can customize the guidance it sends to ChatGPT to get better summaries tailored to your needs.

YouTube Summary With ChatGPT does exactly what its name suggests and in addition to the summary, it also provides a transcript if needed or desired. After installing the extension, you will see a ‘Transcript & Summary’ box in the top left corner of the YouTube video page. Clicking on it generates a transcript. To create a summary, click on the OpenAI logo, and the extension will open ChatGPT in a new tab where you can view the summary.
Like Glarity, YouTube Summary With ChatGPT allows you to customize the guidance to get a more tailored result for your needs. The only downside is that it redirects to ChatGPT instead of displaying the summary in the same tab.

3. Eightify
Eightify is another Chrome extension powered by GPT for summarizing YouTube videos. After installing the extension, you will see a summary button next to the ‘Like’ button. Clicking on it generates a summary that can be viewed on the right side of the screen.
Eightify provides an eight-point summary of each YouTube video. The short and digestible summary helps understand the entire video. Each of the eight points can be expanded if more details are needed. And most importantly, you can create summaries in different languages.
The free plan of Eightify offers five free summaries upon installation and three more per week. Additionally, you can summarize a YouTube video for free only if it has over 30,000 views and is less than 60 minutes long.

The summaries from this tool are longer compared to what other tools provide.
For example, it provided a 485-word summary for an 11-minute YouTube video. While this ensures that important points are not lost, it requires more time to read the summaries. Besides the summary, it also displays a transcript with timestamps on the right side. You can use these timestamps to skip to any part of the video.

5. ChatGPT Summary for Websites & Youtube videos
ChatGPT Summary for Websites & Youtube videos is another Chrome extension for summarizing YouTube videos. By default, the tool uses ChatGPT to provide a short summary paragraph followed by eight points.
However, you can change the format by rewriting the guidance in the extension settings. There is an option to add the website URL and choose the language in the guidance.
This extension also summarizes articles and texts in addition to YouTube videos. Next to the summary tab, there is a chat tab where you can directly use ChatGPT. In case you do not find any useful summary, you can ask the extension to recreate it.
