The technology giant expands its artificial intelligence offerings with the launch of the ‘First AI Notebook’.
NotebookLM is Google’s software for note-taking. Instead of a typical chatbot, this software works with the content it already has and uses AI to deepen the understanding of the content.
The key difference between NotebookLM and traditional AI chatbots is that NotebookLM allows you to ‘ground’ the language model in your notes and specific sources,” says Google.

For example, when you input a Google document into NotebookLM, it will automatically generate a summary of the document and provide you with key topics and questions you can ask to better understand the content.
You can also ask NotebookLM questions about the uploaded documents and request it to create for you a glossary of key terms, a summary of specific aspects of the document, and more.
For instance, if you upload a sales pitch, you can also ask it to generate potential questions for investors. Alternatively, if you already have written content, you can share ideas and ask it to create a script, for example, if you want to create a video based on the content, you can input the desired content and request a list of video ideas.
NotebookLM is an experimental product built by a small team at Google Labs. The team intends to test it and learn how to refine the technology before launching it. Currently, NotebookLM is being tested with a small group of users in the United States. If you are interested, you can join the waiting list. Here
This technology was initially announced at Google I/O under the name Project Tailwind as part of Google’s many AI announcements.
