Every business, small or large, needs a website that conveys added value, reliability, and encourages visitors to complete the goal you have chosen.
With the correct prompts from ChatGPT, you can create content that conveys a value proposition, generates targeted appeal to the audience, and adds persuasive motivation for action.
The prompts will be written in English, and if necessary, can be translated into Hebrew using Google Translate. At this stage, ChatGPT is not yet proficient enough in Hebrew, and the results are not satisfactory enough.
5 steps and prompts to help ChatGPT write an engaging homepage easily:
1. Value Proposition
For the visitor to know they have arrived at the right place and want to continue, they need to understand the value proposition. The clearer and more authentic the value proposition is, the greater the likelihood that the customer will complete the desired goal.
Prompt to write a value proposition in ChatGPT:
My company works with [target audience] to achieve [the 3 main results you create for customers]. After working with us they feel [the change you create for people]. We are unique because we [ways in which your business is unique]. Create 10 options for value propositions from this information. Each one should speak directly to a member of our target audience and be really compelling, so they want to find out more
Once you receive the results, choose the one that suits you.
2. Targeted Appeal
For visitors to choose your business, they need to feel that you are the best option for them. They need to envision themselves enjoying the product and service you offer, see that you understand them.
Provide ChatGPT with the following prompt:
“My company’s customers are [describe your dream customer in terms of demographics, location, interests, life stages and anything else relevant.] They want to achieve [describe what your dream customer is looking to achieve in engaging your services]. Can you give me 6 bullet points that succinctly describe this person, in a way that they would relate to. These six bullet points will sit under the header, ‘Our customers are…’ and must be engaging to people who fit the description provided.
Read ChatGPT’s suggestions and check if they align with the desired tone. If you have comments, add further guidance on tone or wording according to the brand language. Once you have the desired text, add the section to the homepage under the heading, ‘Who we work with’ or ‘We work with people who…’ in a wording that suits you.
3. Connect with Customer Challenges
Understanding what customers want to achieve is not enough; you also need to understand their challenges. You need to show them that you can help them with the product or service and communicate it well. This is the time for the next prompt:
Ask ChatGPT to describe the customers’ three biggest challenges:
I have described my company’s customers in detail (in my last question). Now, can you explain their three biggest challenges in a way that speaks directly to them, as being things they want to stop experiencing. These three bullet points will go under a sentence that starts, ‘They want to…’.
You can add and ask ChatGPT to elaborate or shorten the response as needed. Add below.
4. Paint the Big Picture
Now that you have captured the attention of the visitors and they see that you have experience and understand their problems, it’s time to paint the future for them and show how their lives could be better by working with you. This is the prompt you need:
Now you know about my ideal customer, their biggest challenges and how my company helps them, can you give me a paragraph that starts, ‘Imagine if’ and describe how amazing their life could be with all their problems solved by working with us. Explain how they will feel and the changes they will experience. Speak directly to them in this paragraph.
You can continue to guide ChatGPT and specify the parts you like to sharpen them.
You can also ask ChatGPT to provide guidance for a suitable image:
Describe a landscape image that could accompany this paragraph, that would appeal to my target audience member and get them excited to work with my company. It should include the colours [explain your brand’s colour palette] and be in the style of [describe the style of your brand].
Once you have a description you are satisfied with, paste it into Midjourney to create an image.
5. Add a Compelling Call to Action
The final piece of the puzzle is a clear call to action and if possible, social proof. Visitors need to feel that people have already achieved the desired result and then it’s time to direct them to take the next step. This part requires two instructions. The first prompt:
Now I want my customer to click a button and get in touch. Can you give me 3 options, each fewer than 6 words, of the text that could go on that button? They will use that button to [book a call, make an enquiry, pay a deposit / delete as appropriate] and it has to be compelling and related to the described above.
Once you have chosen the suitable option, add one call to action button in the homepage title, one in the section of the biggest challenges, and one at the bottom.
Finally, real testimonials. This is the prompt to generate a relevant customer recommendation: “My ideal customer experiences these three main challenges: [paste the challenges you chose in the previous step.] Please write a recommendation paragraph for each challenge, a customer who has experienced this exact challenge and no longer experiences it since working with us.”
Now you have three recommendations that can be edited with additional instructions. Instead of adding these recommendations to the site, think about people from your existing customer base who have truly experienced the described change, then send them an email and check if you can publish the review in their name.
Can you write an email to my customer, [name]. Include testimonial [1, 2 or 3] and ask if they would be happy to put their name to that paragraph or if they would like to make any changes. Say it would be very much appreciated.
Good luck!
