Google Introduces Extensions and Integrates Bard, Google’s equivalent to ChatGPT, with Gmail, Drive, YouTube, and more of its applications.
Google’s Most Powerful Model, Bard
Whether you’re looking for a recipe, how-to guides, coding assistance, or simply learning new topics, Bard’s new model can now help you with higher quality and accuracy than ever before.
Adding Extensions to Bard and Connecting to Google’s Applications and Services
Google Bard now allows you to connect to the internet even in the free version. The new upgrade and integration of Bard with Google’s applications enable Bard to scan information from applications such as Gmail, Drive, etc., and provide answers based on that information.
Extensions allow you to direct Bard from where you want to receive your information. If you ask Bard to show you a video, it will scan YouTube; if you want to find a flight, it will connect to Google Flights.
Using @ with the name of one of the services at the beginning of your prompt (Flights, docs, maps, etc.) will direct Bard to fetch the answer from the specified source. For example, Flights find me the best flight to Barcelona next week@
And here are some nice examples of how Bard can help us plan our lives with information from Google’s services:
The new update is already available in Israel, and you can use it after logging into Bard and granting it access to applications (at any stage, you can revoke access and define which applications to access and which not to). Google stated that personal information will be used for the instructions you request, and it will not be used to train the language model.
Bard’s Response Checker
The Google button at the bottom of the response has also been updated with more capabilities. Clicking on it after receiving a response will show a mark on the response: green means the answer matches sources in the search results. You will also receive a link to the source of the comparison. Orange – the answer does not match, and here too you will receive a link to the source of the comparison. No color – there is not enough information to make a comparison.
In short, go talk to Bard>>
